The podcast

Clear insight and practical information. All banter free.

We recorded these episodes the way we wish other podcasts were recorded. Short, research based, and straight into the thing you came for. No twenty minute warmup, no ads for mattresses.

Your hosts

Two therapists, working out loud.

Pat Ward

Pat Ward, LPC-S

Co-host

Pat is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in Mississippi and the founder of The Homeward Collective. In his practice he uses a wide range of research-backed methods with clients from every walk of life, and he works with leaders who want their businesses, organizations, and ministries to be healthy places.

Taryn Mau

Taryn Mau, LMFT

Co-host

Taryn brings what she has learned across years of work with couples and individuals in Indiana and Mississippi. She works hard at making clients feel heard and understood, then looks for ways to push that healing out into their closest relationships.

What we talk about.

The episodes cover the same ground we cover in session, which is to say the ordinary stuff that turns out to be the hard stuff. How couples fight and what a good repair looks like. Anxiety that will not turn off. Grief that shows up years late. What actually changes a habit. Why the thing that helped your friend did nothing for you.

Clients tell us they play episodes in the car between sessions, which is roughly what we hoped for. If you are a counselor, they also work as something to hand a client who wants to keep going during the week.
